| UK patients considering dental treatment in Turkey most commonly ask about cost savings (typically 60–80% less than UK private prices), safety and accreditation, quality of materials, what happens if something goes wrong, how many days to book off work, and whether their NHS dentist will cooperate afterwards. All of these are answered directly below. |
After 32 years of treating British patients at our clinic in Antalya Lara, we have had this conversation thousands of times. The questions are, with small variations, always the same. We have compiled the ten most common here — with direct answers, specific figures, and the context that turns a vague reassurance into genuinely useful information.
These are not marketing answers. Where the honest answer involves a caveat, we include the caveat. Where a question applies differently depending on the treatment, we say so. The goal is to give you the information you need to make an informed decision — not to tell you what you want to hear.

The 10 Questions
Q1: How much money will I actually save on dental treatment in Turkey?
UK patients typically save between 60% and 80% compared to equivalent private dental treatment in the UK. The exact saving depends on the treatment. Here are 2026 comparative figures:
| Treatment | UK private | Antalya | Saving |
| E-max porcelain veneer (per tooth) | £700–£1,200 | from £150 | up to £1,050 |
| Full set of 16 veneers | £11,200–£19,200 | from £2,400 | up to £16,800 |
| Single dental implant (fixture + crown) | £2,800–£4,000 | from £850 | up to £3,150 |
| All-on-4 full arch restoration | £14,000–£18,000 | from £3,500 | up to £14,500 |
| Zirconia crown | £600–£900 | from £170 | up to £730 |
| Smile makeover (16 E-max veneers + whitening) | £12,000–£20,000 | from £2,550 | up to £17,450 |
Q2: Is dental treatment in Turkey safe?
Yes — with the correct clinic. The risks associated with dental tourism are almost entirely attributable to choosing an inadequately equipped, inexperienced or unaccredited clinic, rather than to the country or the procedures themselves. Turkey has a strong dental education system and a growing number of internationally accredited practices. The specific risks to check: inadequate pre-treatment planning (mitigated by a mandatory 3D CBCT scan for implants), use of unbranded or low-grade materials (mitigated by written confirmation of implant brand and material specification), and no aftercare system (mitigated by a proactive remote follow-up protocol). Ask the 10 questions in our Blog #6 before committing to any clinic.
Q3: Is the quality of dental materials in Turkey the same as in the UK?
Yes — for reputable clinics. E-max lithium disilicate ceramic, zirconia, and implant systems from Straumann, Nobel Biocare and Osstem are globally manufactured products made to identical standards whether used in London or Antalya. The quality of the clinical outcome depends on the skill of the dentist, the quality of the ceramist, and the thoroughness of the planning process — not on which country the work is performed in. Always ask a clinic to confirm in writing which implant brand they will use and what ceramic material will be used for your restorations.
Q4: What happens if something goes wrong after I fly home?
At Our Dentist Abroad, patients return home with a written guarantee (specific terms, not a vague promise), a patient coordinator available by WhatsApp and email indefinitely, a proactive follow-up schedule (3-month, 6-month and annual calls for implant patients), and a Nottingham UK office for face-to-face contact. If remedial work is required under the guarantee, we arrange your return to Antalya and cover the clinical cost. Travel costs are your responsibility. If a UK dentist can safely address the issue locally, we coordinate with them directly. The question to ask any clinic is not whether they have a guarantee — it is whether the guarantee is written, specific about exclusions, and backed by a clinic that has been operating long enough to honour it.
Q5: How many days do I need to take off work?
It depends on the treatment. Veneer or crown treatment: 5–7 days for a single trip. Single dental implant: two separate trips of 3–5 days and 2–3 days, with a 3–6 month healing period between them. All-on-4 or All-on-6 full arch: 4–5 days for Visit 1 and 2–3 days for Visit 2. In practice, clinical appointments are concentrated in the mornings and most patients are free from early afternoon. Day 4 of a veneer or crown course is typically a completely free day with no clinical commitment whilst the laboratory produces the permanent restorations.
Q6: Will my NHS dentist cause problems about treatment I’ve had abroad?
Rarely, in practice. NHS dentists have a professional obligation to provide routine monitoring and emergency care regardless of where previous treatment was performed. What they need to do this properly is documentation — which is why we provide every patient with a written treatment summary, implant passport and aftercare protocol before departure. These documents are formatted for UK dental practices and resolve the majority of concerns. Occasionally a practice declines to engage with overseas work; when this happens, a private dentist will monitor without difficulty, or our Nottingham office can assist.
Q7: How do I know which clinic to choose from the hundreds in Antalya?
Ask ten specific, verifiable questions before committing to any clinic. The ones that matter most: Who specifically will be treating me, and can I see their qualifications? How long has the clinic been operating? Do you use 3D CBCT scanning for implant planning? Which implant brand will be used — confirmed in writing? Do you have Digital Smile Design for veneer cases? What exactly does the written guarantee cover — and what does it exclude? Is the quote fully itemised with no hidden costs? How is UK aftercare managed — what is the response time? Does the clinic hold AACI or JCI international accreditation? Can I speak to a previous patient? A clinic that cannot answer all ten clearly and in writing is giving you the most important answer of all. See our Blog #6 for the full guide.
Q8: Is it possible to combine dental treatment with a holiday in Antalya?
Yes — and most of our patients do. A veneer or crown course involves 3–4 clinical appointments spread across 5–7 days, with meaningful free time built in: a full free day during the laboratory period, and free afternoons after most appointments. Antalya is a genuinely excellent destination — Lara Beach is less than 10 minutes from our clinic, the Kaleiçi Roman and Ottoman old town is 20 minutes by taxi, and Aspendos (one of the best-preserved Roman theatres in the world) is 50km east. The combination of dental treatment with a Mediterranean break is not a compromise. For most of our patients, it turns out to be a highly efficient and enjoyable use of their annual leave.
Q9: What is the flying time from the UK to Antalya, and which airports fly direct?
Antalya is served by direct flights from most major UK airports throughout the spring and summer season. Flight times: London Gatwick and Stansted approximately 3 hours 30 minutes; Manchester and Birmingham approximately 3 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours; Edinburgh approximately 4 hours 30 minutes. Airlines operating direct routes include Jet2, TUI, EasyJet, Ryanair, Pegasus, SunExpress and British Airways, depending on the departure airport and season. Transfer from Antalya Airport to our clinic in Lara takes approximately 25 minutes — we arrange this for all our patients as standard.
Q10: Why should I choose Our Dentist Abroad specifically?
We have been operating in Antalya Lara since 1995 — 32 consecutive years. We hold AACI international accreditation and Turkish Ministry of Health authorisation for international health tourism, both publicly verifiable. We have an in-house ceramics laboratory, standard 3D CBCT scanning for all implant cases, and Digital Smile Design for all veneer and cosmetic treatments. Our English-speaking patient coordinators have an average of over 10 years of UK-specific experience. We have a Nottingham office for face-to-face UK contact. Our pricing is mid-range for Antalya — not the cheapest, because we choose quality and long-term patient relationships over volume. If you find a clinic that answers the ten questions in Blog #6 more convincingly than we do, choose that clinic. We are confident in our record.
